Barcelona City Council joins the House of Languages
Barcelona City Council has signed 7,000 m2 of the Can Ricart site over to and thus become part of the Linguamón-House of Languages project. As a result, the House of Languages will henceforth comprise the Government of Catalonia and Barcelona City Council, which has placed part of Can Ricart in the hands of Linguamón for a 75-year period. more ...

The House of Languages has recently launched Living Maps, an ambitious, ground-breaking cartographic project revolving around the tongues of the world. Living Maps is an interactive website via which users can look up information on languages by specifying a geographical area or the name of a tongue.

We talk to Isidor Marí, director of the Linguamón-UOC Chair in Multilingualism, about the application of the European Commission¿s ELAN study in Catalonia. The Europe-wide study, which analyses multilingualism in businesses and the way they adapt to foreign markets, is being carried out in Catalonia and will offer an insight into workers¿ language skills and companies¿ language-related requirements and demands.
